Distance: 22.4km
Ascent: 326m
Time: 1.5 - 2.5 hours
Difficulty: Easy
The route follows predominantly good tracks up Glen Einich, which cuts deeply into the Cairngorm massif to Loch Einich at its head, which is ringed by dramatic high mountains that rise steeply above the shores of the loch. In its lower reaches the glen passes through the Rothiemurchus forest, a remnant of what was once a vast area of ancient Caledonian pine forest.
It is possible to extend this route to include a circuit round Loch an Eilein and/or the tracks to/from Loch Morlich.
